We used quantitative passive acoustic mapping (PAM) to monitor cavitation emissions during ultrasound-mediated anti-biofilm treatment and found good correlation between the spatial cavitation dose using PAM and the extent of biofilm disruption observed with microscopy.

We bred a Pten-null mouse model of hepatocellular carcinoma as a model system for evaluating ultrasound-mediated small molecule delivery using a clinical ultrasound system and commerical grade microbubbles. We observed significant improvements in drug delivery as well as vascular shutdown (shown on the left) in the tumors of ultrasound-treated mice which has led to continued research efforts into understanding the vascular effects of therapeutic ultrasound.

We characterized a setup commonly used to evaluate in vitro sonoporation. We found that the confounding microbubble activity during sonoporation in cell enclosures is quite complex and is a result of spatially and temporally varying acoustic fields and bubble concentrations, making it impossible to study sonoporation in cell enclosures in a standardized and reproducible way.
